Located in the middle of downtown Prescott, Granite Creek Park is a great place to spend an afternoon with family and friends! Granite Creek Park has a large playground area for young and middle age kids with sitting areas for the "older" folk to enjoy conversation and food. Most of the sitting areas are covered. Be sure to plan ahead if you want to use the sitting area during the pleasant summer months in Prescott!
In addition to the playground and sitting areas, Granite Creek Park has some fairly large grass fields for group sports events such as ultimate frisbee or some family time football. The large trees in the park also make the grassy areas pleasant for just relaxing on a Sunday afternoon. Although, you may not be able to sleep too much as this park is a favorite for Cicada beetles!
On the list of nice parks, this park is at the top. What makes it exceptional is that it includes a nice trail system that moves about the park area and more into downtown Prescott. The trail is a nice walk at about 1.5 miles from one end to the other and makes it way past a historic train bridge, under the streets in Prescott and down the wash behind some of downtown Prescott buildings. Although you may rarely encounter a bicycle, be careful as they are permitted on this trail.
